Hi Leigh, yep. My suggestion is that you need a complete training program. None of those are really issues that one can answer in any decent way by typing on a keyboard! I mean one could but it would be many pages long. The reason being is that until you have established a clear foundation with your puppy you are always going to struggle. The whining and barking when you leave the room is the start of separation anxiety…not nice… You really do sound like you have a live wire there! Here is my suggestion… Inside my site http://theonlinedogtrainer.com I have a whole section called Project Moses (he is huntaway/border collie x labrador) where I made a video diary of him from 8 weeks of age. Its all in there…the whole thing so if you want to get a good idea of what to do and what not to do you can watch that. I also cover off how to achieve that foundation I was talking about, AND we go through all the issues that you mention… Here is the deal! Its $1 US to check it out for 3 days during which you can cancel if you don’t like it and that’s it. If you don’t cancel and stay on its $37 US per month and again there is no contract so you can cancel at any time. Enjoy the site…I think you will love it 🙂 Best regards Dan…. P.S My suggestion is to get onto it ASAP as those issues are not going to just sort themselves out over anytime soon.

He is now 13 weeks n many ways he is awesome but there are a couple little behaviour all issues that we need to sort out. First if the kids aged 9 and 6 try to get him to do something he doesn’t want to do eg: get off the couch or leave something alone, pull him out of the garden on his leash he will growl or snap at them. Secondly he will whine, bark and cry whenever I leave the room. Thirdly he is determined to have access to the couch and will sneak up onto it whenever he can then he won’t get off unless my husband or I are the ones to firmly demand he gets off and then he does it very quickly. And lastly he jumps up on and nips at the kids when they are playing. I realise he is young so some of these issues are a matter of development and ongoing training but the growling and snapping concerns me. Any suggestions?
