We want about 30 seconds of calm and quiet. Of course when opening the door the Separation rule applies. Be sure your placing in there calmly and without speaking.
However long it takes to get 30 seconds of calm. It’ll get easier and is not forever. Hang in there.

The father is a mixed breed pig hunting dog who is very aggressive and dangerous to people when off the leash. He has been know to bite others. Our puppy becomes aggressive when around other dogs. Is this the breed, fear or something else. When we approach another dog he will bark and then become aggressive. At this point we remove him from contact. we can not have an aggressive dog. How do we best deal with this behavior?

My husband and I have been using timeouts for about 2 years and now she will not let me lead her in with me holding her harness , she tries to bite me. I now have to put a lease on her to get her to the time out room, which is our bedroom. And we wait till she stops barking, but as soon as we let her out when she is calm, she runs out of the room and goes right back to where she was barking her fool head off. We have to put her in timeout when we have anyone come to the house because she will not stop barking at them. We have tried to interact her with people but she just barks and then when they leave she barks, jumps and nips at them. Very frustrating, but we keep trying. I took your course and apparently I am doing something wrong. She is very stubborn. We can’t even bath her, she bites us, I have to bring her to a place to bath her. My Vet thinks she is untrainable and referred us to a Behavioral Vet, who I am afraid will keep her drugged. She already is on Phenobarbital for seizures and Trazadone at night so she can sleep.
